ADF General in PNG to strenthen PNG-Australia Partnership

Australian Chief of Australian Defence Force, General David Hurley made an appearance atthPNG Defence Force Headquarters at Murray Barracks in Port Moresby.

 

General Hurley is inthe country for a three-day visitoto discuss strategies that will strenthenthPNG-Australia partnership through various defense programs.

General David Hurley was met by Papua New GuineaDefence Force Beigadier General Francis Agwi.

 

Military personnel atthe barracks assembled atthe Commanders Parade Ground to welcomethe visiting general and his delegate.

 

General Hurley’s visit follows ongoing talks withthPNGDF andthPNG government on enhancingthPNG Defence Force’ capabilities.

 

These will be achieved by buildingthPNGDF’s capacity through joint partnership platforms; one of which isthe Defence Cooperation Arrangement.

 

The arrangement will be used as a framework to delivePNG’s Defence Cooperation Programs valued at an estimated 27 million Australian dollars.

 

General Hurley travelled to Wewak today for a one-day visit tothe Moem Barracks.

 

He will also visitthe Bemana War Cemetery before he departs for Australia on Saturday, August 3rd.
