Addressing Drug Abuse

Moresby South MP Justin Thaktchenko has moverd to tackle high incidences involving drugs in his electorate.


Mr Thaktchenko is alsothe Sport and Special Events Minister.


Starting atthe ward level,the member has involved councilors and community lLeadersby firstly trainingthem as frontline force inthe fight on drug.

Statistics fromthe Badili Police station inthe Moresby South Electorate show that 80 to 90 precent of cases reportedthere are drug related.

The local MP has moverd to do something about that.

A training workshop on drugs has been arranged for Forty five ward councillors and community lLeadersfromthe Moresby South electorate.

The National Narcotics Bereau facilitatedthe training.

It ended today after two weeks andthey receivedtheir certificated fromthe Bereau.

Mr Thaktchenko urgedthem to getthe message across and help solvethe drug issue.

Director General ofthe Bereau, John Mapusa encouragedthem to partner withthem to create more awareness onthe effects of drugs intheir communities.

The lLeaderswho took part under took to dotheir best.
