ABG Joint Supervisory Body Meeting Underway

The ABG Joint Supevisory Body (JSB) meeting is underway between the Autonomous Bougainville Government and PNG National Government in Kokopo.

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, arrived at 10am this morning in Kokopo to join the ABG leaders, lead by President, Chief Dr. John Momis, who arrived in Kokopo over the weekend.

The PNG-ABG delegation began their discussion at around 11am, in a closed-door conference at Rapopo Plantation Resort, outside of Kokopo town.

Media access to the meeting was restricted.

The content of the meeting hasn’t been made public yet but it is understood the one-day meet is to discuss outstanding issues between the PNG and the Autonomous Bougainville Governments, regarding the Bougainville walk towards referendum.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to be made public at the end of the closed-door meeting.

The discussions between the two parties is still in progress.
