A total of one million cocoa seedlings will be distributed to all ward councils in the Madang District, that’s politically headed by the Madang MP and Minister for Petroleum and Energy, Nixon Philip Duban.

The cheque of K1 million, aimed at providing 500,000 cocoa seedlings, has been presented to the cocoa board. The Cocoa Board itself, throwing in another K1 million, as instructed by the Agriculture Minister, Tommy Tomscoll, for another 500,000 cocoa seedlings to the Madang District Cocoa Growers.

The launching of the event took place at the Gonoa village, in the Transgogol LLG, where people from all around the area came in numbers, to witness the event.

“A ward will receive 10,000 seedlings each, announced the Madang MP,” Nixon Philip Duban.

The Madang MP and Minister for Petroleum and Energy also announced, that the production from these much needed cocoa trees, can enable the people to access international markets, and export their cocoa.

“We will make sure, and we don’t want a middle man, so that Madang’s cocoa can be directly exported to the International Markets,” said Duban.

The Agriculture Minister, Tommy Tomscoll, further clarified to the people, that having access to the International Market is not a problem, if they work together.

“The only obstacle in securing a International Export license is when you don’t work together. You must work together, to meet the required volume in order to export your cocoa,” said Tomscoll.

The event was also witnessed by other members of the People’s National Congress Party, as an act of solidarity.
