Amidst high tensions, community leaders from the Boundary Road and Sialum communities have held talks with provincial leaders in an effort to bring peace following ongoing tensions.
This is the third day the community leaders from both factions have met with provincial leaders to resolve the ongoing fighting.
Following the last two meetings, provincial leaders had warned the two sides to stop fighting and allow harmony back into the communities.
Since yesterday the two communities have laid down arms in order to allow law enforcers to deal with the people responsible.
Peace negotiator, Paul Kehenu, said the communities had cooperated with the leaders in order to see peace restored in the two communities.
During another meeting held yesterday, the leaders have agreed to submit reports on the number of pieces of damage caused to the police’s law and order committee.
A special committee will be formed to analyse the damage caused based on the reports provided.
This year within the Morobe Province has seen some of the worst fighting on record, with the provincial government having now spent K1.2 million in order to resolve these clashes.
Most of the clashes in the province have seen homes, properties and even lives lost.
