Prime Minister O’Neil was disappointment with the management of the hospital for not attending to some basic needs ofthe hospital with the money the hospital already has.
He says the government will now deal directly and resolve the Angau’s infrastructural problems.
Prime Minister O’Neil was in Lae over the weekend to assess the state of the Lae roads and the run down state of the Angau Hospital.
The members of the hospital’s board and management gave him a walk through the hospital.
Bet he couldn’t avoid complaints from patients, lying outside the accidents and emergency section’s veranda.
Although he returned back to Port Moresby on Saturday, Prime Minister O’Neil said that he is dissatisfied with the hospital board and management.
“I cannot accept patients sleeping out on the veranda of the hospital,” he said.
O’Neil says the government will intervene directly with the hospital’s problem.
“The management has been seeking funding from the government to when it should have begun work with 15 million kina sitting in the hospital’s bank account”.
About two months ago, Lae MP, Loujaya Toni and Housing Minister, Paul Ezekiel visited the hospital following orders from Peter O’Neill after nurses went on strike.
