Acting Minister for Higher Education Don Polye has assured parents and students’thatthe graduation for the University of Technology will go ahead today as scheduled.
All parties involved inthe UNITECH saga have agreed to this.
Mr Polye told a news conference in Port Moresby thatthe country’s human resource was important andthe graduation will go ahead today.
He laid to rest concerns raised by various individuals aboutthe legality ofthe qualifications that will be conferred today.
Mr Polye’said issues affectingthe university were now a subject of investigation and parents, students’and all stakeholders should leavethem tothe investigating team to deal with.
He assuredthem that he has spoken to all parties involved inthe saga including former VC Dr Albert Schram, Former Chancellor, Philip Stagg and thers andthey all agreed to havethe graduation staged.
He says it is also his desire to see all issues affectingthe university to come to end soon and urged students’and parents to work togther to ensure a successful graduation.
Minister Polye will be present for the graduation.
