The Opposition yesterday laid two complaints tothe Ombudsman Commission againstthe Government.
One compplaint is overthe alleged unlawful state loan to a private corporation, whilethe ther against Treasurer James Marape for allegedly holding back District Services Improverment Project Funds allocated for Opposition MP’s
These four members ofthe opposition held a media conference afterthey formally laidthe complaint tothe Ombudsman Commission.
The failed public service housing program wasthe first issue. Questions were raised aboutthe details ofthe contract.
According to documents obtained bythe oppositionthe state entered into a contract with a company that did not own land to construct 200 houses for public servants.
The value ofthe contract was thirty nine point zero eight million kina.
The opposition suspectsthe misconduct was committed by a number of key players. They include Prime Minister Peter O’Neill who wasthethen Public service minister; John Kalithen secretary for department of personal management; and Fredrick Bernard Reiher Director of Australasia PacificPanel Ltd.
The ther case is against treasurer James Marape. He’s accused for holding onto district services improverment project funds and Provincial Services Improverment project funds belonging to thirteen ofthe fourteen opposition members.
Meanwhilethe opposition is calling onthe Prime Minister to fast trackthe appointment of a Chief Ombudsman Commissioner.
