Male officers withthe Department for Community DevelopmentoYouth & Religion have embarked on a campaign to leadthe fight against violence and discrimination.
The officers heldtheir inaugural meeting on Wednesday to plottheir campaign. The meeting was chaired by Acting Secretary ofthe DepartmentoAnna Solomon.
The meeting may bethe first inthe country, where men gthered to explore strategies in addressing violence and discrimination.
It is a new approach and one that may well have a positive step inthe campaign.
Chaired by Acting Secretary Anna Solomon, and Executive Director Office of Development for WomenGayle Tatsi,the meeting aimed to establish a foundation intheir campaign.
It was a tough first meeting as men broketheir silence onthe issue, sharing experiencesthey had gone through.
Gayle Tatsi said,the campaign against violence and discrimination cannot succeed withoutthe involvement of men.
Fromthe meeting male officers have agreed to establish a committee to overseethe coordination ofthe group in advocating against violence and discrimination.
