2013 Taiwan Trade Fair Launched

The 2013 Taiwan Trade Fair was officially launched on Monday by Governor General Sir Michael Ogio atthe Crowne Plaza hotel in Port Moresby.

 

Over twenty companies from different industrial sectors of Taiwan were present to exhibittheir products.

 

Taiwan’s Trade Mission Representttative in PNG Daniel Hu saidthe fair will provide a win-win opportunity forPNG and Taiwan if trade is strenthened.

 

 

“PNG entrepreneurs will havethe opportunity to gain this experience to developthe SME’sector which in turn promotes economic developmentoincrease job opportunities and international trade,thereby, contributing to a vibrant and prosperous nation,” said GG Ogio.
 

The Governor General highlightedthe lack of management skills by local industries in sellingtheir products inthe world market.

 

He also called on financial institutions in PNG to provide conducive environment for locals to allow for more trade.

 

A representative fromthe Taiwan Business delegation said Taiwan is proud to be part oPNG’s economy.

 

“We hope that we can have futher business opportunities and investments, and also help in building uPNG’s economy,” he said.
 

Agriculture andthe manufacturing industry werethe focused areas to increasPNG’s low employment rate.

 

The Trade Fair will run for two days in Port Moresby before moving over to Lae onthe 10th of this month.
