A remote community inthe rugged mountains of Sialum inthe Morobe province has provern that hard work pays off.
The people have built classrooms attheir primary school despite many challenges. Their efforts were recognized bythe Minister for Education James Marape when he visited Siwea Primary School recently.
Sialum is located inthe Tewai – Siassi Electorate of Morobe province. The remoteness ofthe Primary school meant that school materials had to be carrlied bythe people. The Sialum community walked for six hours each day for a year tothe nearest road to pick upthe materials.
Their hard work eventually paid off. The school now has a double classroom, fencing and student toilet. Minister Marape andthe local MP Mao Zeming visitedthe school recently. They were high intheir praise for the community for givingthe school andtheir children’s future importance.
The School Beard has been urged to utilise school grants accordingly.
