Police Elements on show at Exhibition

Port Moresby residents got to knowthe inner operations ofthe Police Force overthe weekend.

The forces’ land, sea and air elements were on show atthe Police exhibition as part ofthe force’s modernization program launched last Friday.

Twenty two booths were set up insidethe Sir John Guise StadiumIndoor Complex to house different directives underthe RPNGC. Outside, police transports were also displayed both land and sea.

Peter Sevara, a member ofthe public, said it was a good opportunity for the public to come and learn abouttheir civil rights, and also understandthe work ofthe police.

He said sometimesthe public is quick to judge police personal.

Viola Isari was a keen visitor. She was particularly happy to see a good number of females taking on tough responsibilities inthe force.

The Police force also works alongside ther organizations. The Water Police is one division that engages ther government agencies to carry outtheir water patrols.

The three-day exhibition ended on Sunday.

Meantime, Police Minister Nixon Duban saidthe Modernization program will drivethe nation’s efforts in addressing law and order.

Mr Duban also said many people are raising issues aboutthe police not being people-oriented.

With this program in place, it will boost morale and work ethics, and allowthe force to be more genuine intheir public obligations.

Minister Duban is confident that this can be achieved ifthe government andthe RoyaPNG Constabulary are committed.
