The Wabag General Hospital now has an eye clinic built underthe Tax Credit Schemeith Berrick Niugini Limited who managers Porgera Joint Venture and operatesthe Porgera Gold Mine.
The eye clinic facility was constructed over an eight month period valued at over One Hundred and Thirty Five thousand kina.
Berricks Community Relations Manager Timothy Andambo said withthe revised direction onthe Procurement Policy, Berrick would need to see some alignment onthe part ofthe Enga Provincial lLeadersto utilisethe tax credit to best servethe people.
Mr Andambo handedthe keys tothe Wabag District Administrator Luke Waiyon andthe Hospitals Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr Guboro Urae.
Dr Urae, upon receivingthe keys saidthe district needed an eye clinic– it not only served its residents but those from ther districts in Enga.
Sincethe inception of tax credit in 1992, tax credit has funded over K12.9 million worth of infrastructure withinthe Wabag district – ranging from institutional building, recreational facilities and infrastructure.
