Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill will lead a delegation to the forty-fifth Pacific Islands’ Forum Leaders Meeting in Palau this week.
Mr O&rsquO’Neill said the Forum is a chance for Pacific leaders to meet, and talk openly to advance the region’s economic growth, education and healthcare.
“I look forward to sharing Papua New Guinea’s experience with my counterparts. “Our country has seen ups and downs over the decades, but now we have positive economic growth and we are dramatically expanding,” said Mr O’Neill.
A centre of focus will also be the current threats of climate change faced by Pacific Island countries.
The trip will also see a stop in Singapore to meet leaders of the APEC Secretariat.
“The APEC Secretariat in Singapore has been very supportive of Papua New Guinea as we prepare to host APEC and I look forward to our discussion.
“Hosting APEC in 2018 will provide a great opportunity for Papua New Guinea to make a significant contribution to as well as receive the benefits of increase trade, business and jobs in our region,” said O’Neill.
Mr O&rsquO’Neill and the government delegations departed PNG shores today.
