Modilon Hospital Lacking Stock

by Rachel Shisei – EM TV News, Madang

Anger and confusion rains among patients travelling from areas outside Madang town, due to the lack of proper treatment being provided by Modilon General Hospital.

Patients have said that they were unable to receive treatment for issues such as snake bites, hypertension and asthma, just to name a few.

The hospital is believed to not have the specific medications at present to be able to deal with such medical problems.

A source has confirmed that this is also frustrating to the hospital’s workers, with the reason for the shortage being a chronic shortage of essential drugs at the Area Medical Stores.

The Area Medical Stores are stocked by the National Health Department to supply hospitals like the Modilon General Hospital, but according to the source the hospital hasn’t received anything for four months now, and a long list of much needed supplies is still left outstanding.

“This is no doubt a nationwide problem,” they said.
