Madang Welcomes Triplets

by Rachel Shisei – EM TV, Madang

Madang has welcomed triplets, born today to a woman from Gaobin on the island of Karkar.

Despite the joy shared by the health workers, the other mothers and the babies’ own mother at the sight of them, the recent power outage was a great worry.

Nursery Manager, Terry Aluwis said the nursery needs constant flow of natural oxygen, but the oxygen concerntraters need electricity to function.

He said in the case that there is a black out, the next possible way to keep the newly born triples alive is using a gas cylinder and that may not be safe.

The health workers are working around the clock to keep the triplets, a boy and two girls alive, with an appeal to the PNG Power office to keep the power on for atleast a week or so.
