People living with disabilities will have access to watch the 2015 Pacific Games live.
For many years, access to sporting infrastructures including stadiums, were only catered for able-bodied persons.
But architectural designers for all sporting venues in Port Moresby have designed stadiums and sporting complexes that have pathways for wheelchair persons to access.
People with special needs, particularly those on wheelchair, have been denied access to buildings in schools, public offices and sport stadiums.
However, the government has recognised rights for people living with disability.
Sports Minister, Justin Tkatchenko, said the games village, Sir John Guise stadium, the Taurama aquatic center, Caritas sporting complex and other indoor and outdoor facilities now has access for people with disabilities.
Unlike past international events held in Papua New Guinea, including the then South Pacific Games in 1991, people with disability will for the first time have access to all sporting facilities for the Pacific Games next month.
In a recent visit to Caritas indoor sporting complex, Higher Education Research Science and Technology Minister, Malakai Tabar, has praised building designers for incorporating disability plans in their planning.
