Parkop: Port Moresby is Ready for the Pacific Games

By Jack Lapauve Jnr – EM TV, Port Moresby

Host Governor of the 2015 Pacific Games, Powes Parkop, today assured the media that Port Moresby is ready to welcome member countries taking part in the Games.

Despite the recent tension and chaos in the city, Governor Parkop says the city is ready to showcase all it has to offer.

Governor Parkop said despite the slow progress of some of the Games facilities, the majority of the infrastructure for the event will be completed before June.

He said only a minority of crime incidents and the recent Hanuabada tension has grasped the attention of the country and its Pacific neighbours, but NCD is working tirelessly to prepare for the Games.

Parkop thanked the O’Neill-Dion government for the opportunity that Port Moresby has to showcase its diverse culture, growth and rise as a leading country in the Pacific region.

“We will stand proud to welcome all member countries and athletes taking part in the 2015 Pacific Games to our city”, said Parkop.
