Following Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s visit to India late last year, on the occasion of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation or FIPIC, a delegation from India arrived in the country early this week to meet businesses and scout potential opportunities to invest.
Since arriving in the country over the weekend, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have met with government leaders, including Peter O’Neill, leaders of industry and their counterparts in business.
Last night the Indian community in Port Moresby hosted a dinner to welcome the delegation, as well as to introduce and connect them with established networks forged over many years in the country.
Also in attendance to show their support were government representatives, including Secretary for Treasury, Dairi Vele, who gave a compelling presentation to the delegates about why Papua New Guinea is an attractive country to invest in.
Miss Subha Tampi, representative for the delegation, said that the relationship that was forged during the recent FIPIC summit in Delhi and Jaipur in India is strengthened and continues through the CIIs visit to the country.
