DON’T TAKE THE RISK

This is the time of the year when people will travel using the sea, land and air transport continuously for holidays.

For the coastal provinces, majority will use the sea transport as it is cheaper than the air transport.

East Sepik Provincial Police Commander Superintendent Christopher Tamari urged travellers in the province who are using the sea transport to take extra precaution while travelling due to bad weather.

Superintendent Tamari was responding to the recent incident that occurred which left a few people dead when the boat capsized due to rough seas when passengers of a boat left Wewak for Madang.

“Don’t take the risk at this time of the year, when the weather is not good”

“If you see bad weather, stay back. If the weather is fine, you travel”

“Don’t take the risk, always be safety conscious,” Tamari said.

PPC Tamari urged the people to listen and obey the instructions and advise as they don’t have the capacity to assist them out at the sea.

“We don’t have the capacity like marine boats, helicopters and Water Police to assist,” Tamari added.

Superintendent Tamari further advised the people not to take the risk of travelling during bad weather.
