POM Likely Host for Kumuls vs Bati Match in June

It has been a year without any rugby league representative football by the PNG LNG Kumuls, but this year the mid-year representative window has reopened, with Port Moresby the likely host for a showdown of Melanesian rivals Fiji Bati and the PNG LNG Kumuls.

But this depends on the current COVID-19 situation if there is a rise in the number of cases that could send the match back to Australia, the revelation was made by the chairman of PNGRFL Sandis Tsaka during the renewal of sponsorship by ExxonMobil the managers of the PNG LNG Project also on the cards a return of the Prime Minister’s 13 challenge.

ExxonMobil with PNGLNG as the major sponsor of the Kumuls renewed their sponsorship today as PNG also prepares for the rugby league World Cup.

ExxonMobil has been the naming rights sponsor for the PNGLNG Kumuls since 2013, and has been a big contributor to the rise of the team from 16th place to now 6th on the rugby league world rankings, the new three-year deal will see the Kumuls world Cup preparations given much needed boost.

With a few trial matches also lined up before the team heads over to England for the World, towards the back end of the year.

ExxonMobil PNG Executive Director, Keith Killian added that the sponsorship was to ensure the team is well prepared for the 2021 World Cup in England.
