Teachers in Morobe Province, who are yet to register for their National Identification cards, will be using the school holidays to do so, as the Education Department recently moved the deadline from March to December, to allow for those who have missed out.
The Papua New Guinea Teachers Association wants the government to pay the three percent pay rise promised to them according to the Teaching Service Salary Fixation Agreement that was signed between the Council of Public Sectors Union and the government in 2016.The association demanded a response from the government this Friday, or term two classes for primary and secondary schools will be disrupted.

Formal preparations for this event began recently, with the hosting of an official fundraiser in Lae, Morobe Province.In 2017, the inaugural PNG Cocoa of Excellence Show was staged in Kokopo, East New Britain. The event brought together cocoa producers, suppliers, exporters, and manufacturers together to celebrate cocoa, and also grade various cocoa samples from around the country.
The PNG Men’s National Football team are in day 2 of a training camp in Port Moresby. The camp began yesterday where skills and fitness have been tested.The men’s camp has been split into two groups, with the Port Moresby-based players going through the first training camp, while others selected from teams in Lae, Madang and the Highlands region will gather in Lae for their training camp which begins on the 22nd of April to the 24th. The training camp is to check players’ fitness and skill level and to see how they can play together as a team.
