8 Mile Water Woe

By Eric Haurupma – EMTV News, Port Moresby

8 Mile Residents outside of Port Moresby today voiced their concern about the lack of water supply to their homes.

They said so far they have been using only one water tap to source water from.

This morning EMTV News saw these residents with plastic containers, queuing around the main water supply tap.

Daniel Yangis from East Sepik, a long time 8 Mile resident said he has been facing this ordeal for over 20 years.

Residents said while the Eda Ranu is carrying out continuous water rationing around the city, this has affected them big time.

As water is a priority need, accessibility to adequate supply was far from being reached.

This residential hub has an estimated populace of over 3,000 people from different provinces across Papua New Guinea.

They are now calling on the local MP, Eda Ranu and the National Government to fix their water problem.
