The eight man kickboxing tournament will be officially launched in Port Moresby later this month. It is an old concept in ther countries, but new tPNG.
The idea ofthe tournament is to identifythe last man standing to representthe country intheWorld Kickboxing K-1 fight in Japan next year.
Over five hundred participants nationwide will be competing inthe eight man tournament. The fighters in each region will fight in two rounds with eight heats.
The tournament seeks kick boxers who are between 70 to 72 kilograms but due to less number of fighters with those weights, it will includethe undercut fighters who are below 70.
While fighters from ther centers are preparing for the upcoming tournamentoChampions ofthPNG Games,the Southern Region boys are active in training and are looking forward to put up a good battle.
Fighters not eligible to take part inthe challenge are very supportive totheir teams.
Heat one will kick off next month in Port Moresby atthe SportInn followed by Heat 2 in Kokopo,then Lae and Goroka.
Oncethe elimination process is up,the finals will be staged to identifythe last man standing who will walk away with K50 000 and will represenPNG intheWorld Kickboxing fight next year in Japan.
