While much of the focus and attention has been on the staging of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Port Moresby, the PNG Sport Foundation (PNGSF) has assured the roll out of the seventh PNG Games in Kimbe, in November will be successful
Executive Director, Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, said his team would help with respect to the technicalities of hosting the games.
“The host organising committee have their own team that will manage the games – the PNGSF will give technical staff and technical advise,” said Tsiamalili Jnr.
With the contracts already awarded for the upgrading of sporting infrastructure in Kimbe, Tsiamalili says their only concern is regarding the logistical demands of the games.
Last year, Governor of the West New Britain Province, Sasindran Muthuvel, told EMTV the province had missed out on the public investment program funding, to fund and host the 2016 PNG Games.
Since then, Tsiamalili has confirmed an estimated budget of K10 million will be available, K8 million of which will go towards the upgrading of sporting infrastructures.
