2016 Momase Regional Qualifiers for Besta Cup Draws Out

The draw for the 2016 Momase Regional Qualifiers for the Besta Cup has been released, with over 24 teams in both the men’s and women’s divisions confirmed to participate.

Tournament organisers said the Momase qualifiers are the biggest event on the Besta Cup calendar, and they are confident of the standard of the competition.

Heavyweights the Lae Football Association have been placed in Pool A, while hosts Madang Soccer Association, are in Pool B.

In the 2015 edition of the competition, Madang had been unable to make it past the semi finals stage, and it had ended up being an all Morobean final.

This time, however, with the home crowd behind them Madang will no doubt be heavy favourites.

Pool A will also feature Rumken and Kairuru from East Sepik, Pool B host Madang Soccer Association is joined by Watut and Maprik.

Lahi in Pool C and Wau in Pool D, will be the teams to watch out for.

District neighbours Leron and Ramu will fight it out in Pool E alongside Malala.

In the women’s format, only six teams with LFA, Wau, Bogia in one group, while Lahi and Wewak will be joining the hosts Madang in the other.

The regional qualifiers will begin from August 10-14.
