The 2015 Westpac Outstanding Women Awards took place last Friday evening in Port Moresby.

Women from different walks of life and ages were recognised and seasoned businesswomen and founder of Women In Business, Janet Sape, took home the coveted Westpac Outstanding Woman award.

It was a night to remember as a predominantly female crowd filled the Gateway Hotel in Port Moresby to celebrate the intellect, the beauty and the power of women in PNG’s modern society.

Unorthodox Categories like the Moore Printing Sport Awards honored iconic veteran netballer Veitu Diro.

The contributions and sacrifices of the nominees were applauded with PWC Private Sector Award Winner and overall WOW winner, Janet Sape, thanking Westpac for recognising the often forgotten women and joked about creating a partnership between Westpac and Women’s Microbank to enable financial literacy amongst women.

The other winners of the night included Janet Sios taking home the Steamships Not For Profit award, Joyce Kiage who took home the SP Brewery Entrepreneur award, Beverly Pambali-Piawu with the Trukai Community award, Michelle Boyama with the IBBM Young Achievers Award and Dr. Evelyn Lavu with the Pacific Assurance Public Sector Award.
