Drug Smuggler Caught at Lae Airport

by Scott Waide – EM TV News, Lae

Security at Lae’s Nadzab Airport have intercepted a small marijuana shipment bound for Hoskins in West New Britain. A young man aged in his 20s was attempting to smuggle about five kilograms of marijuana on a Travel Air flight just after midday today.

This is the second drug bust at Nadzab Airport in the past two months.

Last month, two women hailing from Chimbu were caught trying to smuggle a large quantity of drugs to the New Guinea Islands.

The two mothers came from the settlements in Goroka, in Eastern Highlands Province.

With this further attempt at smuggling, it appears that Lae remains to be a transit point for drugs bound for the Islands of PNG.
