Telikom Launches 3G/4G Service in Eastern Highlands

The people of Goroka and Eastern Highlands now have a choice of service providers to choose from for better, efficient and of course cheaper mobile communication services with Telikom PNG formally launching its 3G/4G mobile service in Goroka last Friday.

Member for Goroka Open, Henry Ame, who officiated at the launch congratulated Telikom for its endeavours to boost communication coverage and efficiency through its 4G service. He commended that it is not only an achievement for Telikom but a bonus for the people of Goroka and Eastern Highlands as well.

“I am sure I speak for the people of Goroka in welcoming the introduction of the 4G service by Telikom into Goroka. Information is knowledge and knowledge is gained or shared through communicating. Therefore communication is a very vital part of development; whether it be human development or nation building. Telikom can be proud that it has been an integral part of the development of this nation from the beginning,” Mr Ame remarked.

Ame said competition now among the service providers in mobile telephony will allow for consumer choice.

Telikom’s National Retail Manager, Amos Tepi, said Telikom PNG being a state owned entity is mandated to provide reliable and affordable service to the people of this country. He said various members of Parliament will have big plans to bring further development to their electorates and as such communication will play an integral part to bring about these developments.

“With your corporation and support Telikom aspire to take a positive step forward to be competitive to provide a stable network. Mobile communication is the global trend in communication and rather than just introduce the current generation of GSM service, Telikom PNG has gone ahead to invest in the latest 3G/4G LTE mobile network that is futuristic to be able to cater for newer generation of 4.5G or 5G mobile communication when the need to upgrade arises,” Tepi remarked.
