Team Central Cricket To Defend Title

Team Central Cricket is ready to defend its title in the 6th PNG BSP Games, come November.

The Gold medal winning team at the 2012 Kokopo PNG Games was in action over the weekend at Tubusereia village.

The Ikaiana Cricket ground was  hot over the weekend with an improved Tubusereia cricket team going up against the Team Central in the twenty 20 over format.

Team Central in blue, brought the excitement to the pitch with the gold medal title in hand from the 2012 PNG Games in Kokopo.

While on the other hand, the Tubuseresia outfit had worked on  their cricket skills to find them a spot in the Port Moresby Cricket Competition.

They won the toss and elected to bat, putting a strong challenge to get the seeded Team Central to do a check and balance.

Team Tubusereia in the likes of Peruka Samuel, Ako Parker and Eno Mea, contributed runs in their allotted overs to set the target at 159.

Tubusereia, with 3 wickets in hand, left the pitch to take the bowling role.

Team Central put on a solid combination at the opening start with strong emphasis on having a best possible team defending their title at the PNG Games.

Noel Biga managed 3 for 33 at 4 overs while colleagues Kila Rawali, Timo Harry and Rawali Vali donated ample runs to meet the set target.

Unfortunately, Team Central has one wicket and one run to win when Tubusereia pinned them for 10 for 159 drawing the game.

Team Central will meet Tubusereia in September for another match before heading to Lae to defend their title.
