Storms Outclass Warriors

by Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sport, Port Moresby

Following their devastating loss to the North Queensland Cowboys last weekend, the Melbourne Storm have bounced back, defeating the New Zealand Warriors 30 points to 14.

Storm winger, Marika Koroibete proved to be a match winner, with his explosive speed sparking the victory for Melbourne on Monday night.

Ball handling was an issue for both sides as they struggled to maintain possession of the football early in the match.

20 minutes into the match, Storm winger Mahe Fonua, created a moment of magic and powered over the line to cap his first try of the season, giving the Storm an early lead.

Soon after, the Storm struck again. When Koroibete scored his first try of the night on the 34th minute.

When the game seemed to be going Melbourne’s way, the Warriors hit back through Manu Vatuveu powering over three defenders to touch down.

After the break, the Storm scored again through Will Chambers. Then the Warriors hit back when Nathan Friend crossed over bringing the score to 18 – 10.

The storms then scored through Glasby and the warriors replied scoring again. Then Koroibete closed the games scoring in the final minutes.
