Setting Up HPCE in Momase

PNG Sports Foundation and the High Performance Centre of Excellence (HPCE) recently established an agreement of moving high performance sport into Lae, Morobe province.

Director of HPCE, Aaron Alsop, said it’s only fair to have all regions in the country covered, so that individual centres can use the facilities to train and up-skill their athletes.

The Momase region will be the second region in the country to see a centre established, since the establishment of the HPCE in Port Moresby covering the Southern region. This event was cemented after negotiations took place between the PNG Sports Foundation and the PNG High Performance Centre of Excellence.

To keep the foundation running, HPCE has been speaking with the public and interested individuals for a variety of positions.

Strong support and commitment have been shown by the Morobe Sports Office and Team Morobe officials regarding the expansion of the facilities.

Alsop said setting up a proper platform of support for athletes will go a long way in helping our athletes prepare for any national and international events.
