PNG Taekwondo Federation Rates Fighters

Under the watchful eyes of Taekwondo Master Andy Rutten and PNG Taekwondo Federation President Edward Kassman, fighters from five different centers throughout PNG, were assessed on their techniques and skills.

Held at the Caritas Technical Secondary School, almost sixty fighters were compared and rated.

Fighters were gauged according to whether their techniques were uniform to the styles and techniques in accordance with the PNGTF.

Different Taekwondo clubs had a tendency to use different styles and the sessions would allow for all fighters to be on level terms.

Australian Taekwondo Master Andy Rutten required each fighter to demonstrate their level of skill in a range of different combinations which included knee lifting, side stepping, Front and spinning kicks as well as blocks and punches

The sessions also serve the purpose of updating fighters on current strategies used overseas and prepare the PNGTF for international tournaMen’s like the 3rd Australian Taekwondo Open and the 2014 Oceania Championships.

One of the fighters who took part was Pacific Games gold medallist in the under 80kg division Colland Kokin.
