PNG Nurses Association Needs Help

The Papua New Guinea Nurses Association will host this year’s medical symposium in Kimbe, West New Britain Province.

While preparations are slow, the Association is appealing to the Government and Corporate agencies for financial help in staging this research symposium.

The event will be held on the third to seventh of November with the theme; ‘Nurses, Real Agents For Change, A Vital Resource For Quality Health Service For The People Of Papua New Guinea’.

This will be the thirteenth medical research symposium, and organisers claim they will need a total of K1.5 million to successfully host this event.

PNG Nurses Association President, Eimi Kaptigau, is appealing to corporate and government agencies for help.

The symposium will be open to all medical practitioners, both in public and private hospitals, researchers, academics and interested individuals.

Registered members of PNG Nurses association will have to pay two hundred kina to attend this symposium, while non-members will pay four hundred kina.

Topics such as nursing management and leadership, professional development and education, occupational health and safety, public health promotion and awareness, will be presented at the event.

A formal launching of the symposium will be held later this month.
