PNG Men’s Basketballer, Sibona Kala, hopes for a chance to represent country

PNG Men’s Basketball player, Sibona Kala, says he is hoping for another shot at representing the country.

Kala who had missed out on a chance to play for PNG during the Pacific Games in 2015, says he is now focusing more on his career domestically, and using that platform to make a push for representative duties should the opportunity arise again.

Playing with the Saints Basketball Club in the Port Moresby Men’s Basketball League, Kala believes that the sport will only grow in the country and that talented youth players are now leading the change.

Kala was at the courts having a short fitness stint with his men’s netball team.

Kala, drawing comparisons with basketball, stated that men’s and mixed netball is a relatively new concept in PNG, but believes, it has more to offer with growing popularity over the past few weeks.

Both the Port Moresby Men’s Basketball League and the Men’s and Mixed Netball competitions are growing in popularity in the Nation’s capital.
