PM O’Neill Congratulates PNG Athletes

Steven Kari has become the first PNG athlete to win gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Steven’s performance in the 94kg weightlifting division put him ahead of Canada and India. He also set a new record in the clean and jerk.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill has congratulated the first two Papua New Guinean athletes, who won silver medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

He congratulated Morea Baru and Dika Toua for their tremendous efforts to win medals in weightlifting. The Prime Minister also applauded every athlete who has made it to the games and said the country is behind them all the way.
