Manus Leaders Criticize Manus Deal Package

Political leaders in Manus have criticized the benefits of the Manus Regional Processing Centre.

In an exclusive interview with EMTV News, the political head of the small island province was critical over the package benefits to develop Manus Province.

He says, the deal has moved the province some steps forward however criticisms remain.

Manus Governor, Charlie Benjamin described the deal as raw, with little attention given to the Manus Provincial Government.

He says despite the ongoing projects, the provincial government continues to struggle to fulfil development aspirations in the Manus Deal.

Significant projects like the Momote-to-Lorengau road have been completed with other infrastructure in the Health and Law and Order sector.

Manus MP, Ronny Knight, says Manus has no option but to put up to this decision made by the Australian and PNG Government.

Meanwhile, MP Knight is calling on authorities in Australia and the PNG Government to repatriate all Australian nationals involved in crimes committed in Manus to face PNG law.
