Richard Kassman is now the new Chef de Mission for Team PNG, taking part in the 2015 Pacific Games.

Kassman, who led Team PNG, to success in Mini Pacific Games in Wallis and Futuna last year, will now be ready to head the locals in their home soil.

Kassman is no stranger to the PNG sporting scene, and sports administration.

He has been involved through playing, coaching, umpiring and administration at various levels, and in different sporting codes, including rugby union, soccer, softball and more recently Va’a.

He has been mandated a significant role in the operation of Team PNG, in the 2015 pacific Games.

When asked about the athletics, PNG using the Jack Pidik Park to train- on, he says PNGOC and the Sports Ministry are in negotiation with the University of Papua New Guinea, and would come to terms, to have all the athletes move back to UPNG, while waiting for Sir John Guise stadium, to be completed.

Today marks 472 days to go before the bombshell is dropped here in the nation’s capital.

The Games Venues are now the main focus for the 2015 Pacific Games Authority, and should be completed to let PNG Athletes, to train on, and gain the home ground advantage.

2015 will be the third time for the Pacific Games to come to PNG, and the country hopes for a similar success as that of the last Games it hosted in 1991.

Meanwhile, the PNGOC will be advertising positions for Team PNG Management, and will be screened by Technical and Evaluation Committee.

The Selection policy for all the athletes taking part in the 2015 Pacific Games will be ready by June.
