Education Department to ‘Phase Out’ Elementary Education

The Education Department under the O’Neill-Abel Government is looking to restructure the Education System.

Workshops have been conducted with Primary and Secondary schools around the country on the changes.

Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra says that some schools in NCD have implemented the new structure while others will do so next year.

The phasing out of Elementary schools around the country will take place says Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra.

There will be Prep Education then full Primary will be Grade 1 to 6 and then Grade 7 and 9 are yet to be classified while Grade 10 and 12 as High School.

Dr Kombra says the removal of Elementary Education will improve the quality of Education during early childhood learning.

Secretary Kombra says the foundation is very important to ensure that the Education standards improve across all grades.
