Community Partnerships Crucial for Community Organisations

By Meriba Tulo – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Since 2014, more than K820 million has been invested by ExxonMobil PNG in various development areas – much of these centred on its project sites.

At a recent stakeholder engagement event, EMPNG Managing Director, Andrew Barry, acknowledged the partnerships forged between EMPNG and its partners – primarily community organisations, government agencies, aid agencies and NGO’s.

Some of these organisations were present at the event and provided insights into their partnerships with ExxonMobil PNG.

According to Mr Barry, through these partnerships, talent from all participants were being used to improve access to education and healthcare, elevate women’s initiatives, enhance livelihoods and protect the country’s extraordinary biodiversity.

As PNG focuses on APEC this year, Mr Barry reemphasized on the need to continue to work together to deliver programs that are efficient, drive positive development and will benefit the livelihood of Papua New Guineans for the long-term.
