Bulolo Teachers: Tuition Paid

by Bethanie Harriman – EM TV News, Lae

The Bulolo district authority in Morobe has paid outstanding tuition fees owed to Lae’s Balob Teachers College.

The district Authority has been funding the training of teachers who have been encouraged to go back to the Ward areas to teach.

It seeks to add capacity to Ward areas in the Local Level Governmen’s.

The Bulolo MP, Sam Basil, said teachers play a vital role in capacity building in remote villages.

Teachers out in the rural areas of most provinces in Papua New Guinea contribute to building capacity in ward areas.

The Bulolo district Authority has been paying for more teachers to be trained at the Balob teachers college in Lae.

The teachers have also been encouraged to go back into their rural areas and teach.

The Bulolo district is carrying out a key government role of empowering Local Level Governmen’s with teachers to directly educate children in the Ward Councils.

The funding includes allowances for travel and will allow the students to continue into third year.
