AROB Records Smooth Polls

Despite issues with the voter roll, polling in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville have began peacefully since Monday with no major incidents recorded. I

In North Bougainville, some voters complained about their names not on the voter roll.

But they believed this was an issue to be fixed by the PNG Electoral Commission considering the Autonomous Bougainville Government Elections preliminary roll was available for use as supplementary roll.

However little encounter was with aggrieved candidates in Central and South Bougainville protesting over eligible voter names not on the voter roll.

The islands President, Chief John Momis was also frustrated with the electoral roll and will later release a statement.

Acting Election Manager, Desmond Tomiyaso has confirmed that Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato , has now authorised the use of preliminary roll as supplementary to compliment the current working roll.
