Airport, Roads and Cancer Treatment Unit Budgeted for Morobe Province in 2018

Nadzab Airport is one of several important items in the 2018 budget that has been given specific mention.

More than 5 million kina has been allocated for the terminal upgrade. 2 million kina coming from the government and an additional 3.87 million from loan funding.

This is one of several long overdue infrastructure projects in Morobe Province.

To compliment the airport upgrade, funding has been allocated for the competition of the 4 lane highway from Lae to Nadzab.

The decision taking into account future growth between Lae and Nadzab.

Another long overdue project for the Morobe Province, the Wau-Bulolo highway, a 10 million kina allocation. The road that has seen better days is in desperate need for maintenance and reconstruction in some parts.

This is an important economic road for the Morobe Province linking logging agriculture, and mining sites.

One item that will be welcomed by the Lae public is the 30 million kina allocation for the Lae Cancer treatment unit. This will be part of overall plans to develop the Angau Hospital.
